
We are Long Island’s composting connector organization focused on facilitating relationships and sharing resources between individuals and institutions.
In late 2020, several Long Island environmental advocates recognized the need to reduce food waste on Long Island and independently began coordinating and formed the LI Organics Council in 2021. Most of the founders currently serve as steering committee members.

We hosts bi-monthly meetings and other events to promote compromise with the environment and educate people about the objectives of composting.
Our assemblies cover intriguing topics ranging from compostable products and closed-loop business models, to the overall waste issue on Long Island and what we can do about it.

We are currently partnered with the non-profit organization Green Inside & Out in a grant project funded by the NYS Pollution Prevention Institute.
The initiative seeks to implement a food scrap drop-off site in a LI municipality that can serve as a model for others.
