Join us on January 16 from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm to hear about how Syosset High School seniors Riddhi Jain and Emily Su took the initiative to address the absence of composting programs in the Town of Oyster Bay. Inspired by efforts in other areas, the 17-year-olds proposed a backyard composting system for residents.
The pilot program, launched in early summer, enrolled a total of 50 families, offering information sessions on composting science and environmental benefits. Participants provided continuous feedback on convenience and compost production. Supervisor Joseph Saladino commended their efforts at an Oct. 17 town meeting, recognizing the program as a “resounding success.” We hope to see you there!
